About the Family

Two parents, five kids, one dog, and a house that is rarely quiet. This is where we share what life with all seven of them actually looks like.

Who we are

Our household in a nutshell

We are a family of seven: two parents, five children, and a dog who considers himself a sixth child and treats the sofa as his personal property.

Between school runs, homework battles, sports carpools, and dog walks, there is rarely a quiet moment. But there is almost always something worth writing down — the funny thing a kid said, the small victory that got us through the week, or the lesson the dog taught us about staying present.

This blog is our running notebook. We write it to keep track of the years that will otherwise blur together, and because so many of you have asked to follow along.

The family

Two parents who split the load as evenly as they can, and five children spread across the ages, each with their own personality, routines, and opinions about bedtime.

  • Five children, each with a different streak of stubbornness and kindness
  • A dog with an opinion about everything, especially walks
  • A house that is permanently missing a shoe or a lunchbox

Behind every post here is a household in motion: two parents, five children, and one dog who acts like a sixth kid and claims the couch as his personal throne. School runs, homework standoffs, carpools, and leash walks fill the calendar, but the moments worth keeping are usually the small ones. A quotable line from a kid, a thrift-store find that fits perfectly, a dinner idea that actually survives the week. This space exists to catch those moments before they blur, turning chaos into something worth writing down and sharing with other families living the same beautifully busy life.

Why we started blogging

Family life moves fast. Writing things down became our way of slowing it down: to remember the ordinary days, to share the unglamorous parts of raising a big family, and to connect with other families walking a similar road.

What we write about

  • Real-life parenting of a large family, including the messy parts
  • Day-in-the-life stories and family milestones
  • Our dog's antics and the everyday care that goes with him
  • Home life, routines, and the small things worth remembering

Home life and interests

Our days are shaped by the usual rhythm of a busy household: getting everyone fed and out the door, keeping up with school and activities, and making sure the dog gets his share of attention in between.

Beyond the routine, we enjoy slow mornings with good coffee, cooking that the kids will actually eat, walks that take twice as long as they should, and telling stories that make the kids laugh at the dinner table.

Why we keep writing

“Five kids and a dog means the days are loud, tiring, and gone in a blink. Writing keeps them here a little longer.”
